About NuSmile Academy

NuSmile Academy provides interactive continuing dental education focused on pediatric restorative procedures and treatment planning. Courses combine case-based lecture, instructor-led discussion, clinical demonstration, and supervised hands-on participation.
Course content addresses contemporary restorative materials, pediatric crown systems, pulp therapy, space maintenance, clinical workflows, and the evaluation and management of common restorative challenges.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:
- Identify contemporary behavior management techniques, pulp therapy protocols, restorative materials, crown systems, and space maintainer options used in pediatric dentistry.
- Describe the indications, contraindications, and clinical principles for crown selection, tooth preparation, cementation, pulp therapy, and space maintenance.
- Demonstrate proper crown selection, tooth preparation, cementation, and placement techniques across pediatric crown systems during hands-on exercises.
- Analyze patient case scenarios to develop evidence-based treatment plans and select appropriate restorative and space maintenance options.
- Develop comprehensive treatment strategies by integrating behavior management, restorative dentistry, pulp therapy, and space maintenance principles into patient care.
- Evaluate clinical outcomes and troubleshoot common restorative challenges to improve workflow efficiency and support predictable treatment success.
Participant Information
The following information is provided to help participants understand the intended audience, prerequisite knowledge, and instructional format of NuSmile Academy workshops.
Intended Audience
NuSmile Academy workshops are intended for practicing dentists, second-year dental residents, and full-time or part-time dental faculty seeking continuing education in pediatric restorative dentistry.
Suggested Prior Knowledge
Participants should possess foundational knowledge of dental anatomy, restorative dentistry, tooth preparation, pulp therapy, and routine clinical procedures. Previous experience providing restorative care to pediatric patients is suggested but not required. Prior experience with NuSmile products is not required.
Hands-On Instruction
During hands-on participation activities, NuSmile Academy maintains an instructor-to-participant ratio that does not exceed 1:15, providing opportunities for direct instructor interaction, supervision, and individualized instructional guidance.
Curriculum
What Participants Will Learn and Practice
Workshop content combines case-based instruction, clinical discussion, instructor demonstration, and supervised hands-on participation focused on pediatric restorative dentistry.
Educational Method: Lecture and Case Discussion
Morning Lecture and Case Discussion
- Review clinical cases involving pediatric crown selection, preparation principles, and cementation considerations.
- Discuss indications, treatment-planning considerations, and placement principles for space maintainers.
- Review pulp therapy protocols, clinical indications, and restorative material selection.
- Examine clinical workflows and approaches to identifying and managing common restorative challenges.
Educational Method: Participation
Afternoon Hands-On Participation
- Practice pulp therapy techniques and the handling and placement of contemporary bioceramic materials.
- Practice crown selection, tooth preparation, cementation, and placement techniques across pediatric crown systems.
- Complete guided exercises involving space maintainer selection and placement.
- Receive direct instructor observation, instructional feedback, and individualized guidance during hands-on exercises.
