NuSmile NuCem™ RMGI+ FAQs

NuCem™ RMGI+ is a radiopaque, dual-cure resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) luting cement formulated for predictable, efficient cementation with outstanding handling and exceptional strength across ALL crown types. Formulated with 4-META adhesion technology and zirconium silicate fillers, NuCem promotes durable long-term retention while providing dual cure feature for consistent clinical performance.

NuCem RMGI+ was engineered to address the most common pain points clinicians experience with traditional RMGIs:

• Designed to perform across all crown types including zirconia, stainless steel crowns (SSCs), NuSmile Signature, NuSmile ReVIVE™, and BioFlx®

• Dual-cure feature with a 2-minute working time, 5-minute setting time, and a tack-cure option for fast & easy cleanup

• 4-META adhesion technology for enhanced bonding to tooth structure and common dental restorative substrates

• Reinforced with zirconium silicate fillers for superior compressive strength, flexural strength, wear resistance, and radiopacity

Yes. NuCem RMGI+ is designed for use with all NuSmile crown types, including NuSmile Zirconia (ZR), Stainless Steel Crowns (SSCs), NuSmile Signature, NuSmile ReVIVE™, and BioFlx® providing one cement that supports the full NuSmile crown portfolio.

All NuSmile NuCem RMGI+ kits include single-use Automix tips (15 tips with the Starter Kit, 30 with the Professional Kit, and 4 with the Single Use Kit). Using Automix tips is the most efficient, effective, and accurate way to dispense and mix the material.

NuCem RMGI+ is designed for predictable, efficient cementation and is less technique sensitive, with superior bond strength across all crown types and a lower cost per gram price. On the other hand, BioCem contains phosphates that can chemically bond with zirconia and is primarily suited for zirconia restorations and clinical cases where bioactivity is preferred.

NuCem RMGI+ is a dual-cure material. The clinician can allow the cement to fully self-cure or use the light cure option with tack cure feature to remove excess cement, depending on clinical preference.

No, the tooth should NOT be desiccated. The tooth should be dry but not chalky in appearance. There should be no pooling of water, saliva or blood. Removing excess/pooled moisture from the tooth with a cotton pellet and then drying with compressed air is sufficient.

· Working time:2 minutes

· Setting time: 5 minutes

· Tack-cure: 5 seconds per surface

· Self-curing gel phase: 1 minute 30 seconds

Excess cement is best removed in its gel state with a scaler or explorer. The gel state can be achieved by tack curing the surface for 5 seconds on both the facial and lingual margins, or by allowing the cement to self-cure for approximately 90 seconds after placement in the mouth.

4-META is an advanced bonding monomer used in NuCem RMGI+ to enhance adhesion to tooth structure (dentin and enamel) as well as to common dental restorative substrates such as zirconia and metal. It contributes to NuCem's superior bond strength.

NuCem RMGI+ delivers superior bond strength to dentin, enamel, and zirconia compared to leading RMGI cements. (Click here for comparison data.)

Yes. NuCem RMGI+ is a radiopaque RMGI luting cement, reinforced with zirconium silicate fillers to provide clear visualization on radiographs for post-cementation evaluation.

Yes. NuCem RMGI+ provides reliable long-term cementation with low solubility, supporting durable clinical performance over time. (Click here for comparison data.)

Yes. NuCem RMGI+ demonstrates excellent color stability, helping the cement margin remain esthetically consistent over time.

Per the NuCem RMGI+ IFU:

• Store at a temperature of 35–80°F (2–27°C)

• Do not expose the product to high temperatures or direct sunlight.

• If the ambient temperature is higher than 27°C (80°F), the storage life may be shortened.

• After use, immediately clean the syringe inlet and close the cap for storage.

• Keep dry.

The expiration date is 18-22 months from the manufacturing date when stored as directed. The expiration date is printed on the product label.

Yes. After each use, remove the mixing tip and immediately re-cap the syringe with the original cap. Do not discard the cap.

No. Auto-mix tips are single-use only. Use a new tip for each patient to prevent cross-contamination and discard the used tip after each procedure.

Do not use NuCem RMGI+ in patients allergic or hypersensitive to methacrylic monomers. NuCem RMGI+ is for use on hard oral tissue only and is intended for use by licensed dentists. Discontinue use immediately if any allergic or hypersensitivity reaction occurs. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, skin, and clothing.

No. Eugenol can interfere with the curing process. If a eugenol-based material has been used, seal the exposed eugenol medicament with a resin-free glass ionomer (GI) before cementing with NuCem RMGI+.

Per the IFU, the following preparation steps support optimal performance:

• Prepare the crown(s) to be cemented in the usual manner.

• If cementing to amalgam, composite, or GI, clean, mechanically roughen, and rinse the surface, then ensure it is completely dry.

• Hemostatic agents and disinfectants may inhibit cement retention to dentin — thoroughly water-rinse the tooth before cementing if these have been used.

• When little tooth structure remains, or when the remaining tooth is overly tapered (>15%), add undercuts in the dentin where possible to provide mechanical retention.
