Soan and SleeperOne FAQ

The primary difference between Soan and SleeperOne⑤ is their power sources. Soan is a wireless device whereas SleeperOne⑤ is a cabled device. In addition, Soan offers two injection speeds, high and low, while SleeperOne⑤ has three speed options: high, medium, and low. The only difference between these settings is that for the SleeperOne⑤ the medium speed is indicated for intraligamentary injections whereas for the Soan these injections can be performed under the "low" setting. While SleeperOne's only setting adjustment is the injection speed, Soan offers the following additional customizable settings: sound management (on/off), time before shutdown, quantity preselection, and mode of operation of injection pedal (cruise vs drive).

It is possible to perform intraosseous anesthesia with Soan and SleeperOne⑤ in children and adolescent patients. With Soan and SleeperOne⑤, it is not possible to deliver an intraosseous anesthesia for adult patients but can be used for delivering intraosseous anesthesia in primary and mixed dentition. Since children's cortical plates are immature, Soan and SleeperOne⑤ can easily penetrate the cortical plates and penetrate the cancellous bone to deliver the anesthetic around the tooth apices.

For maximum efficiency, it is recommended to use Effitec Needles®. Their unique scalpel bevel edge incises the tissues without tearing them, making the penetration easier for the dental professional and painless for the patient.

Soan and SleeperOne⑤ are electronic injection pens designed to effectively replace your manual syringe. There are new protocols and procedures to follow with the introduction of intraosseous anesthetic techniques. However, when performing soft tissue injections, your protocols will not change. You will perform all your anesthesia injections painlessly and with greater comfort thanks to the progressive delivery of the anesthetic solution into the tissues.

The wireless pedal allows the dental professional to control the injection. This remote control enables a real pen grip and better support points for maximum precision when holding the device.

FAQ - GENERAL

Intraosseous anesthesia techniques have existed since 1906, were advanced in 1997 by Dr. Alain Villette, and further perfected in 2007 by Dr. Eric Pasquier.

The intraosseous protocol consists of three steps. After initially delivering anesthesia into the attached gingival tissues (periosteum), a perforation is made through the cortical plate toward the apices of the teeth. Because bone is not innervated by myelinated nerve fibres, this perforation is completely painless. Once the needle has penetrated to an appropriate depth, the anesthetic solution is delivered into the highly vascularized cancellous bone surrounding the apices.

An appropriate volume of anesthetic solution containing a vasoconstrictor can be administered without risk of ischemia or necrosis. The anesthesia is immediate (due to proximity to the apices) and highly predictable when delivered into the cancellous bone.). The solution diffuses through the bone, anesthetizing up to eight teeth, depending on the injected volume, and eliminates collateral numbness.

Yes, electronic injections can be safely performed on children using a shorter Effitec Needle®. The advantages are the same as with adults: effective, immediate, predictable, and painless anesthesia. Thanks to a pen grip on the device and the design of Effitec Needles®, only slight pressure is usually required to penetrate into the cancellous bone.

Additionally, the absence of collateral soft tissue numbness eliminates the risk of accidental self-biting, ensuring greater safety for younger patients.

Our devices adjust the speed of injection for greater control, managing the delivery pressure automatically, so ensuring complete safety to the patient and minimal discomfort. Multiple injection modes are available to ensure optimal patient comfort.

FAQ - Effitec Needle

A selection of needles of different sizes and diameters were selected to match your needs and are included with your device. All Effitec Needles have a patented scalpel bevel blade designed to incise the mucosal surface painlessly.

As with any type of dental needle and anesthesia technique, the needle can break if the correct protocols are not followed. Refer to Instructions for Use and Clinical Guide for all instructions.

All Effitec Needles are single use. It is recommended to change the needle between injections to ensure top performance of the needle, a painless injection, and the safety of the patient.
