Course Experience

What to Expect at Tech Day

Tech Day combines concise expert instruction with equipment demonstration, clinical discussion, and guided simulated exercises. Participants rotate through educational activities focused on electronic intraosseous anesthesia and digital intraoral scanning, with opportunities to ask questions and receive instructor feedback.

Intended Audience

This course is designed for dentists and other eligible dental professionals interested in contemporary anesthesia delivery systems and digital intraoral scanning workflows.

Recommended Experience

Participants should have foundational knowledge of local anesthesia and general clinical dental workflows. Prior experience with electronic anesthesia or intraoral scanning is not required.

Guided Participation

Instructors supervise structured exercises and provide instructional feedback throughout the program. The course is designed around an instructor-to-participant ratio of no more than 1:15.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

Identify clinical indications and procedural considerations associated with electronic intraosseous anesthesia.

Demonstrate the basic setup and simulated operation of the electronic anesthesia systems presented during the course.

Apply appropriate image-acquisition techniques during simulated digital intraoral scanning.

Evaluate common anesthesia and scanning workflow challenges through instructor-guided case discussion.

  2. Electronic Intraosseous Anesthesia

    Hands-on instruction, clinical considerations, equipment demonstration, and guided simulated exercises.

  3. Lunch Break

    Scheduled break before the afternoon educational sessions.

  4. Digital Intraoral Scanning

    Scanning workflow instruction, equipment demonstration, image-acquisition techniques, and guided participant exercises.

  5. Case Discussion & Course Review

    Instructor-guided discussion of common workflow challenges, participant questions, and key course concepts.

  6. Workshop Concludes

Lead Instructor

Dr. Patrick Ruck is a board-certified pediatric dentist and Assistant Professor in the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. He provides comprehensive dental care for children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. His professional interests include pediatric restorative dentistry, public health, clinical education, and expanding access to dental care in rural and underserved communities.

Dr. Paul Bahn is a board-certified pediatric dentist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. He serves as Program Director of the Temple University Hospital– Northeastern Campus Pediatric Dental Residency Program and as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. His clinical and educational interests include pediatric restorative dentistry, evidence-based technique, conscious sedation, infant and laser dentistry, and the management of complex restorative cases, including Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization.

Registration & Refund Policies

  • Registration availability: Participants may register through the course date, provided space remains available.
  • Course cancellation or rescheduling by NuSmile Academy:

    NuSmile Academy reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course 30 days or more before the scheduled course date. Registration fees for a cancelled course will be fully refunded.

    If a course is rescheduled, participants may request a full refund within 30 days of receiving the rescheduling notice. Personal expenses incurred because of a course cancellation or rescheduling, including airfare, lodging, transportation, or other travel expenses, remain the responsibility of the participant and will not be reimbursed.

  • Participant cancellation:

    Participants who cancel 30 days or more before the course start date are eligible for a full refund.

    Cancellations received 10–29 days before the course start date are eligible for a refund less a 25% administrative fee. Participants may instead elect to receive a course credit valid for one year from the original course date.

    Cancellations received fewer than 10 days before the course start date are not eligible for a refund or course credit.
